How to install?

3 simple steps to your personal intelligent home.

Step 1

Smartphone outline that shows Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Download the free Wattcost app from the Apple App or Google Play store, and open to create and sign into your personal home energy account.

Step 2

Smartphone outline that shows a list of Wi-Fi networks to connect.
Turn on the Wattcost Beacon and connect to your smartphone. Select a home or public WiFi network to connect the Wattcost Beacon to your account.

Step 3

Meter box outline that shows the Wattcost Beacon capturing data from a digital meter, the mains to fuse box and the circuit from the solar inverter.
Stick the Beacon inside the meter box and sensor onto the electricity meter indicator. Click sensors onto the main electricity and solar inverter circuits*.

How much can I save?

Wattcost can save up to 30% off your power bill when you act on the intelligent savings recommendations. That's serious savings for little effort!

What happens to my data?

We think it's really important you own and control who can access your personal and electricity data. During installation an encrypted account is created on Wattcost's cloud‑based servers, and all data access is protected by HTTPS/SSL, the same level of security used by the banks.

Which smartphones can I use?

Wattcost's multi‑awarded app will work on most Apple iOS9+ and Android Lollipop and above smartphones. The Wattcost app is free and will be available from Apple iTunes and Google Play stores when shipping commences.

How does Wattcost work?

The Wattcost battery‑operated Beacon and meter sensors use WiFi 802.11b/g/n machine‑to‑machine technology to send encrypted data via the Internet to our secure cloud‑based servers for real‑time analysis and sending savings alerts to your smartphone.

Do I have to pay a subscription fee?

No subscriptions fees. You pay only once when you purchase your Wattcost and simply save forever without reducing the return of investment of your solar system with ongoing fees.

How does Wattcost connect to my solar system?

Wattcost captures the output of your solar system with one small sensor that you ‘click‑on’ your solar inverter circuit* in your meter/fuse box. Read more here.

What energy data does Wattcost capture?

Wattcost for solar has 3 sensors - one to capture grid purchases, one for the solar inverter output and a third to measure the home energy use.

Can I use Wattcost at a rental property?

Yes of course. If you are responsible for paying the electricity bill you can also benefit from Wattcost's unique energy saving technology. And when moving, you can simply remove and reinstall the Wattcost Beacon and sensor at your new home.

Does Wattcost ship internationally?

Wattcost is planning to ship globally in the near future, however for the first pre‑order campaign only to Australia and New Zealand. Sign up to receive our blog for latest news about future availability or send us an email asking about your country.

How do I support your pre-order campaign?

Simply select the PRE‑ORDER button above to choose a Wattcost product to support our campaign. Then you'll be directed to a shopping cart where your transaction will be handled securely online. Then, look forward to being one of the first in the world to receive your very own Wattcost.

How is Wattcost self-powered?

The Wattcost Beacon has been designed to operate for 6‑12 months on regular C‑size batteries or optionally from a 5VDC micro‑B USB plug adaptor. An alert is automatically sent to your smartphone when it's time to replace the batteries.

Does Wattcost work with 3‑phase solar systems?

Sure thing. If you own a 3-phase solar system make sure that you select the 3-phase option in the Wattcost for solar shopping cart here.
